How to convert OGG to MP3
- 1
Click Choose files or drop your .ogg, .oga or .opus files into the box.
- 2
Choose the Audio quality — 128 kbps is plenty for voice notes, 192–320 kbps for music.
- 3
Click Convert, then download each MP3 or all of them with Download all (ZIP).
OGG, Vorbis and Opus
OGG is a free, open container created by the Xiph.org Foundation. Inside, you’ll usually find one of two codecs:
- Vorbis — a general-purpose music codec, common in games, Linux software and some streaming services.
- Opus — a modern codec that’s excellent for speech at very low bitrates. WhatsApp and Telegram voice messages use Opus, which is why saved voice messages often end in .opus or .ogg.
Both are efficient, but support outside browsers and Android is uneven. Default players on iPhone and in many cars, older versions of Windows Media Player and much editing or transcription software won’t open them. MP3 solves that.
Typical uses
- Keeping a voice message — from a relative, a colleague or a client — in a format that will still play in years.
- Transcribing a voice note with a tool that only accepts MP3.
- Editing game or app sound files in software that doesn’t read Vorbis.
- Listening on any device, from an old MP3 player to a smart speaker.
Choosing the quality
| Audio quality | Good for |
|---|---|
| 128 kbps | Voice notes, speech, podcasts |
| 192 kbps | General listening (default) |
| 256–320 kbps | Music |
Opus files with the .opus extension are converted the same way as .ogg and .oga files — no need to rename them first. You can also drop a batch of voice notes at once and download all the MP3s together as a ZIP.
Common problems
- The voice note file has no extension or a strange name. Rename it to end with .ogg or .opus before choosing it.
- The MP3 sounds muffled. Voice messages are recorded at a low bitrate to save data. Converting can’t improve them, but it won’t make them worse at 128 kbps or more.
