The short version

  • Your files never leave your device. Every conversion runs inside your browser. We do not receive, store, read or analyse the files you convert.
  • We measure audience with cookieless, aggregated analytics that do not identify you.
  • Cookies for advertising or advanced analytics are only used with your consent, where the law requires it.

Who is responsible

The website turboconvert.io (“TurboConvert”, “we”) is the data controller for the limited personal data described below. Contact: privacy@turboconvert.io.

Your files

When you use a tool, the file you select is read by your browser and processed by code running on your device. It is not transmitted to TurboConvert or to anyone else. The result is created on your device and saved to it when you download it.

On the home page, if you drop a file and then pick a tool, the file is kept temporarily in your browser’s local storage (IndexedDB) so the tool page can open it. It is removed as soon as the tool page reads it, and ignored after five minutes. It never leaves your device.

Data processed when you visit the website

Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel Inc. (440 N Barranca Ave #4133, Covina, CA 91723, USA). Like any web server, it processes technical data needed to deliver pages and protect the service (IP address, browser user agent, requested URL, time). Vercel acts as our processor and is bound by the EU Standard Contractual Clauses.

Audience measurement. We use a privacy-friendly analytics service (Vercel Web Analytics or Umami) to count visits and see which tools are used. It does not use cookies and does not store your IP address; visitors are counted through a short-lived hash that cannot be used to identify you or follow you across sites. We also record anonymous usage events (for example “a PDF to Word conversion succeeded, input between 1 and 10 MB”). These events never include file names or file content. Legal basis: our legitimate interest in understanding and improving the service.

Conversion engines from public CDNs. Some large engines (for example the FFmpeg video engine or OCR language data) may be loaded from public content delivery networks such as jsDelivr or unpkg. Like any web request, these providers see your IP address and browser; no file you convert is sent to them.

Contacting us. If you email us, we use your address and message only to reply, and keep them for up to three years after our last exchange.

Cookies and similar technologies

  • Strictly necessary storage: your consent choice and temporary file hand-off (see above). No consent is needed.
  • Advertising: TurboConvert may display ads served by Google AdSense to fund the free service. In the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland, ads are only personalised and cookies only set after you consent through a Google-certified consent banner.   • Google Analytics (if enabled): only loaded after your consent, with IP anonymisation.

How long we keep data

Aggregated analytics are kept for as long as useful for statistics. Server logs are kept by our host for a short period for security purposes. Emails: three years after our last exchange.

Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to access, rectify and erase your data, to restrict or object to its processing, to data portability, and to withdraw consent at any time. Write to privacy@turboconvert.io. If you believe your rights are not respected, you may lodge a complaint with the CNIL (cnil.fr) or your local data protection authority.

Children

TurboConvert is a general-audience service and does not knowingly collect personal data from children.

We will update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
