      Why convert WebP to PNG?

WebP is now everywhere on the web because it’s light, but outside the browser it still causes friction. Older versions of design and office software can’t open it, some print services and marketplaces reject it, and many people simply want a file they can edit without surprises. PNG solves that while keeping the two things WebP graphics often rely on: transparency and sharp edges.

      Typical cases:

      • A logo or icon saved from a website that you need for a presentation or a document.
      • A sticker or cut-out with a transparent background for a design tool.
      • A screenshot or diagram served as WebP that you want to annotate.
      • An image you’ll edit several times and don’t want to recompress at each save.

      How it works

Your browser already knows how to read WebP. TurboConvert uses that built-in decoder and writes the result as a PNG with the same width, height and transparency. Nothing is uploaded, which also makes it fast: there is no transfer, only a fraction of a second of processing per image.

      Common problems

      • An animated WebP became a still image. PNG here is a single image, so only the first frame is kept. Use Video to GIF for animations recorded as video.
      • The PNG looks identical but is much bigger. That’s normal: PNG doesn’t use WebP’s efficient compression.
      • A file named .webp won’t convert. It may actually be another format. Try opening it in your browser first to check it displays.

      Questions & answers

Does WebP to PNG keep the transparent background?
Yes. PNG supports transparency, so logos, icons and stickers keep their see-through areas exactly as in the WebP.
      Is the conversion lossless?
Yes. The PNG stores the decoded pixels exactly. If the WebP was lossy, its existing compression is kept as it is, but nothing more is lost.
Why is my PNG bigger than the WebP?
WebP compresses images more efficiently than PNG. A larger PNG is expected — it's the price of universal compatibility.
WebP to PNG or WebP to JPG — which should I pick?
PNG for logos, graphics, screenshots and anything with transparency. JPG for photos, where it produces much smaller files.
      Are my images uploaded?
No. Your browser decodes the WebP and writes the PNG locally. Your files stay on your device.
