How to rotate a PDF

Choose the Rotation — 90° clockwise, 180° or 90° counter-clockwise.

Rotate for good, not just on screen
Most PDF viewers have a rotate button, but it only turns the page on your screen for this session. The next person who opens the file — or you, tomorrow — sees it sideways again. Which setting fixes my problem?

Clockwise means the top of the page moves to the right. If you are unsure, try one direction — converting again from your original file takes a second.
Tips
- Mixed problems? Rotate the bulk of the document here, then fine-tune individual pages in Organize PDF.
- Scans from a phone are often sideways because of the camera’s orientation; rotate them, then compress the PDF before sending it.
- Combining files with different orientations works fine — Merge PDF keeps each page’s orientation.
Your file stays on your device during the whole process: nothing is uploaded.
Why pages end up sideways
- Scanners feed paper in one direction; a landscape document or a page inserted the wrong way comes out rotated.
- Phone scans and photos depend on how the phone was held — and some apps ignore the orientation sensor.
- Double-sided scanning of pages bound along the top edge flips every second page upside down.
- Landscape pages in a portrait document — spreadsheets and charts inserted into a report — are often shown sideways in viewers.
Common problems and fixes
The pages turned the wrong way. Convert your original again with the opposite direction, or rotate the result by 180°.
Only some pages needed rotating. The odd/even option covers duplex scans; for any other selection, use Organize PDF, where every page has its own rotate button.
The PDF still looks sideways in one app. Some viewers remember the view you set manually earlier. Close and reopen the file, or reset the view in the app.
“This PDF is password-protected.” Unlock it first, rotate it, and protect it again if necessary.
